Green Manufacturing Tax Credit

There are many people who feel that there is not enough concern being given to the Environment by the Federal Government, but both the Federal and many State Governments have a Green Manufacturing Tax Credit.

There is some confusion as to the exact meaning of the term "Green" when used in conjunction with the environmental movement. The term has come to mean environmental friendly and just exactly what that is can be open to debate even among environmentalist. When you speak of the conditions and qualifications for any single Green Manufacturing Tax Credit, you must be very careful that you understand just what it is the law is considering as environmental friendly.

Gasoline and oil production and their emissions when used are considered major sources of pollution. At the same time, the political impact of dependency on foreign oil is a major concern. So, alternative fuels are a popular issue from different directions.

The Green Manufacturing Tax credits are generally directed at the production of environmental friendly products and not their use, however, they also might apply to the actual production process and not the end product. In other words, if a company is using environmentally friendly methods to produce a widget, their might be a tax break involved somewhere.

The individual States have taken the lead in the use of tax credits to spur environmental concerns within the manufacturing community on a local basis. This is not totally because of distrust in the efforts of the Federal Government toward environmental concerns. It is more a result of the local nature...
